Honey Scheidt dies at age 90

Honey Scheidt, the wife of philanthropist and businessman Rudi E. Scheidt, died on September 11, 2020, at the age of 90.

From University of Memphis President M. David Rudd:

“The U of M family has lost a beloved friend, advocate and supporter, Honey Scheidt,” University of Memphis President David Rudd said in a statement delivered via Twitter. “Her kindness, compassion and joyful spirit were a strong force, with enduring impact on our campus and the Memphis community. She will be profoundly missed.”

The UofM, our College of Communication and Fine Arts and our wider community have lost a wonderful friend and compassionate supporter in Honey Scheidt. She was full of joy and enthusiasm and will be hugely missed. So many of us will treasure memories of Honey and her beloved husband Rudi enthusiastically attending arts and cultural events on countless occasions on campus and throughout our city, and serving as an indefatigable advocate for the arts and for our students. On behalf of my colleagues in the College of Communication and Fine Arts, we send our most sincere condolences to the Scheidt family.
