The College of Communication & Fine Arts presents our annual ‘VOICES’ magazine

Introducing the 2024 edition of the College of Communication and Fine Arts annual magazine, ‘VOICES.’

If you don’t know former JRSM professor Otis Sanford, then you’re in for a treat. Sanford recently retired from teaching – wrapping up a four-decade career that began at the newspaper in Jackson, MS and took him to The Commercial Appeal here in Memphis, to Detroit’s Free Press then back to the CA as an editor.

You’ll also read about this Saturday’s ‘Central to the Arts Festival,’ celebrating the artistic endeavors of our faculty, students and members of the Memphis/Mid-South community. (To get a better idea about all that’s being offered during this year’s festival, we invite you to check out memphis.edu/centraltotheartsfestival – and search for #ctaf on your favorite social media page Saturday to see for yourself how fun the festival is.)

From mummified cats to modern choral classrooms, we explore how our different departments balance innovative research.

Plus we’ll share with you how UofM students are helping the local community outside the classroom.

We hope you enjoy this year’s ‘VOICES’ – and we hope to see you this weekend at the ‘Central to the Arts Festival.’
