We are:
Kaley Fluke: 1st year in the program. My primary research interests include positive and toxic masculinity, interpersonal/intrapersonal relationships and fame trajectories of artists/musicians, life transitions, and vocational psychology. In this lab I am tackling the dark personality tetrad and conspiracy project.
Paul Mowry: 3rd year in the program
Sophie Neisler: 1st year in the program. My primary research interests include men and masculinities, sexual violence prevention, and self-esteem. In this lab, I am working on the dark personality tetrad and conspiracy project.
Swathi Prabhu: 3rd year in the program. My primary research interests include mental health promotion and prevention, vocational/academic well-being, social justice, and sexuality. In this lab I have had the opportunity to work on the gender policing/athlete injury project and am now working on the threatened masculinity and critical consciousness project.
Sam Raines: 3rd year in the program. My research interests include conspiracy thinking, dark personality traits, and how masculinity shows up in this mix. I am also fascinated with research exploring the conditions by which people with major differences in values are more likely to be willing to be converse civilly with one another and maybe even become friends. (Perhaps masculinity is a moderator in this exchange, who knows!)
Diarra Smith: 3rd year in the program
Gabe Alfaro – My research interests include conspiracy theories and disinformation strategies used online, particularly as it relates to men’s perceived masculinity/sense of power. Additionally, I seek to identify personality traits that may predict some of these “dark” behaviors, be it online or off. I’m on internship now, but continuing to work on the latent profile analysis of dark personality, conspiracy, and masculinity.
Alex Littlejohn – My current research interests are sexual and gender minority populations, LGBTQ+ issues, race, ethnicity, and anti-racism, social justice advocacy, toxic masculinity, and health psychology. I’ve graduated from the program now, but have an interest in the threatened masculinity and critical consciousness project that some of the team members are currently working on.
Sue Lease – My interests span areas of gender, health, and work/career – all of which I find fascinating. I’m still looking for that project that combines all three! Additionally, although only one of the current team projects directly addresses LGBTQ issues, I have long-standing interest in this area, too, and many of the doctoral dissertations I’ve chaired or am a member of focus on issues that concern members of the LGBTQ+ community.
