Map of Tipton County painted on the side of an old building in Covington, TN.
A confederate statue in the middle of the town square. (Covington, Tipton County)
A large monument of the 10 commandments right in the middle of the “court house square”.
A directory of churches. One thing the country does have a lot of is churches. Not a lot of different religions though… Just slight variations.
Bucksnort Grocery, seems like a time warp. It’s the only store for miles on the outskirts of town heading out towards the Mississippi River.
Turnages, another small country store, seemingly untouched by time.
The old Anderson store. Don’t get out and peak in the windows, an old man gets there pretty quick and rather upset asking what you’re doing. lol.
This man was in front of Turnages grocery when I pulled up. Frequent sighting in the country…
The lines of class seem blurred in the country, there are no “good” or “bad” neighborhoods, everyone is all mixed.
This to me looks like it encompasses the “old south” and it is mixed in with higher end houses.
This is an example of how big the class gap is. This actually used to be an old ‘black’ bar in the 1950’s from what I hear.
An old plantation house. This was actually built in the 1930’s but the woman showed me where two houses once stood in the backyard that used to be slave quarters. She had them torn down when her and her husband bought the house. She has her degree in Sociology.
This captures the pretty views ion the country and the hard work that is associated with living there.
Cotton is the main industry in the outskirts of Tipton County. The Burlison cotton gin is huge. This image I feel captures the country vibe.
Where the pavement meets the gravel, heading down to the Mississippi River.
A peaceful scenic country drive to the river.
Litter at the river
“Backwoods” bar John’s Boat Dock. They aren’t the type that would like me poking around with a camera, so i took this quick.
Randolph is the name of the “town” out by the river in Tipton County.
I love a nice ride out to the river to enjoy the sunset, very serene and peaceful.
