As part of its exchange program with Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, the Department of Journalism and Strategic Media is hosting three German students during the spring 2023 semester.

Hannah Bitzer, 23, Greta Hüllman, 25, and Daniel Thoma, 23, will take journalism and strategic media courses like multimedia storytelling and TV news producing.

According to Bitzer, the classes are particularly interesting. She says she’s learning more about some aspects of journalism here than she would at home.

The Department of Journalism and Strategic Media has a regular exchange program with Johannes Gutenberg University.

It plans to send UofM students to Mainz in May as part of the exchange program.

For the German students, learning how to adapt to new surroundings and practice their English will be beneficial when they look for jobs in TV journalism, says Bitzer.
