Memphis Public Libraries, in collaboration with the University of Memphis Department of Art, are hosting a seven-week Virtual Community Art Academy that invites children from third to sixth grade to learn how to create original works of art with the help of University of Memphis Art Education majors.
Under the guidance of Dr. Bryna Bobick, graduate and undergraduate students will record a series of art education lessons for the 2021 Community Art Academy. The lessons will be uploaded to the Memphis Public Library’s social media accounts, with new sessions available by 5:30 pm each Wednesday for a total of seven weeks.
A free art kit can be picked up at the library for participating along with the online segments. The segment dates are Wednesday April 7, 14 , 21, 28 and Wednesday May 5 and 12.
Register for the Virtual Community Art Academy here online or by calling 901.415.2843 or emailing jamie.griffin@memphistn.gov. For more information, visit memphislibrary.org/virtual-community-art-academy-2021.
