Dr. Burrow and Dr. Kelley have been selected as Engaged Learning Fellows for 2014-15
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Lauren Burrow and Dr. Torre Kelley have been selected as Engaged Learning Fellows for 2014-15. The University of Memphis Engaged Scholarship Committee (ESC) selected Dr. Burrows’ proposal, “Course Redesign: ECED 4500 Emergent Literacy and Language Development” and Dr. Kelley’s proposal “Course Redesign: ELED 3242 Teaching and Learning in the Elementary School” to undergo a redesign process that brings together the goals of engaged scholarship and student success resulting in courses that employ an engaged learning model*. The ESC is eager to see how this redesign impacts the program and retention of undergraduate students at the University of Memphis.
*Engaged Learning is a mode of experiential learning that fosters collaboration between faculty, students, and community partners for mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge that addresses a community-identified need and reciprocally supports the goals of community partners, student competencies, and faculty research.
