Dr Perkins has been invited to serve on the Tennessee Reading Association (TRA) Advocacy and Legislative Committee.
Dr Perkins will be collaborating with Dr. Risko from Vanderbilt University along with five other members. They will be meeting with legislatures and other government officials to keep TRA informed and their voices heard concerning education in the state.
Dr Perkins is also a Board Chair member for Porter-Leath.
For over 160 years, Porter-Leath, a non-profit organization, has helped at-risk children and families in Memphis. Porter-Leath helps build stronger children, stronger families and a stronger Memphis by focusing on the essential building blocks of healthy development, to give children and families access to the tools they need, as well as a sense of hope.
Porter-Leath has served over 6,838 children and 4,391 families served since July 1, 2013.
