“Integrating Literacy Common Core State Standards into the History Classroom”
University of Memphis in partnership with Jackson-Madison County Schools and Haywood County Schools
Program Objectives:
The 50 Teachers participating in this project will understand how to integrate Literacy Common Core State Standards into their Social Studies and History curriculum by implementing Academic Word Walls, Decision Based Learning, Case Study, Content Centered Learning, Writing/Writing Process and Previewing Complex Informational Text; this will be evidenced by their Lesson Plans. By effectively implementing these 6 strategies, teacher quality will improve. It has been demonstrated that students will benefit from their teachers’ knowledge.
