One of the most interesting topics from chapter two was ideal body image. The ideal body image became a very controversial issue during the twenty-first century. This is usually the product of mass media such as television, movies, news, blogs, and the internet. Physical appearance is important to feel confident for one’s self-image; however, body image is not exactly important to how one is viewed by others. The media creates the ideal image for a person; however, the media creates a fake unreal image which people believe in. Even though the ideal body image is not important to some people body image does show correlation to more outgoing, confident, social, and positive people

Physical appearamce became a really important issue to me during late high school and my first year in college. The issue was the result of everybody in college bieng so attentive to their body weight. Mostly everybody in college is trying to achieve some goal in their body type. All my friends are encouraging me to start working out with them and I have decided to follow their advice. I have been a skinny guy all my life; however, I have decided to change my body image because of media, friends, and simply for myself.

I can now understand that during my teaching career students will also be attentive to their body image. Especially, now that mass media is at its highest point in showing what attractiveness looks like. The only important thing to understand is that kids should be respectful to each individual in the class no matter what they look like. Also, I should be very careful with bullying, abusing, and disrespectful children.
