Behaviorism is one my favorite subjects of developmental history. The most important advocate of behaviorism is the Russian behaviorist Ivan Pavlov. Ivan Pavlov is discovered a concept called classical conditioning.Classical conditioning is the ability to us stimuli to create involuntary responses. Pavlov used his concept of classical conditioning to make a dog salivate to the sound of a bell instead of the sight of food. Another important behaviorist was John Watson. John Watson analyzed emotional involuntary responses. Watson experiment is known as the Baby Albert Experiment. John Watson paired a noice with a fluffy white rabbit everytime baby Albert made contact with the rabbit. Eventually, baby Albert was scared of the rabbit even without the noice and he also generalized the fear (phobia) to fluffly or white objects.

Social Learning is also a very interesting subject of development. My favorite social learning theorist is Albert Bandura. Albert Bandura discovered that modeling is a very dominant behavorial factor in a child’s development. Albert Bandura’s Bobo Doll Experiment one group of children in a room of toys while the second group watch one person being aggressive in the room of toys. The first group played with the toys like normal children while the second group showed aggressian towards the Bobo Doll like the model.

Behaviorism and Social Learning have also influenced my developmental lifespan. When I was younger I was attacked by a groups of bees for hitting the nest so now I have a little phobia of bees or wasps. Also, according to modeling from social learning I like to be like my father. I like to do everything his does like play soccer, fix cars, and work.

During my teaching career I can now understand that behavior and social learing are very important factors to the development of a child. Phobias of objects around the school environment can be created. Also, I have to understand that everything I model the my students can be mimicked by them. That is why it is importatant to be very careful and appropriate during my teaching career.
