Fan Fiction

I just realized that my post from earlier never actually posted….so anyways… I was really interested in the discussion we had on Tuesday on fan fiction. Anyone can create fan fiction on anything they are a fan of like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Toy Story, videogames, and even individual people. I like to browse pictures, memes, etc on imgur all the time. Usually at night when I get in bed I’ll get on imgur and find myself browsing through for over an hour. This site, which is an image hosting service, is a perfect place for people to share the memes and images theyve created or tweaked. Even if the image is profane, the person who made it might have had a lot of fun making it and thinks that it is amazing. They do it because they love it! Here are two images that I found on imgur– the first is from The Nightmare Before Christmas and a truck with a Star Wars themed name and slogan.

  1. I love the imgur site, it is really funny. I find myself lost in it at times also. I’m guessing these people haven’t been caught yet, or they can just say it is a parody and as far as that business truck goes, maybe the business isn’t big enough yet for George Lucas to be worrying about a lawsuit, because I doubt they have his prmission to use one of his many themes in order to make serious profit. They better be careful and be glad they won’t be dealing with Disney.

    • Yeah, I agree with your comment about the food truck. If it’s making money, I would say it probably has a lot to do with the Star Wars image attracting people to the food truck in the first place. And the millennium falcon is exclusively connected to Star Wars. It’s not like it was a generic play on words, as it is obviously identifiable. I also think this dilutes the brand.

  2. This has become a common trend…I think its creative and funny. If you are a fan of something its good to put your own spin on it because it shows how creative it can turn out and how much of a true fan you are.
