Tennessee Music Award winner Ghost Town Blues Band will premiere the music video “Shine” tonight at Malco Studio on the Square. The “Shine” video is a joint project between the Department of Theatre & Dance and the Memphis-based Ghost Town Blues Band.

Scenery Designer and Associate Professor Brain J. Ruggaber provided the backdrop, lighting, and technical support for the new video, which repurposes the set from the department’s spring musical “Be More Chill.”  Lighting for the video was designed by Associate Professor Anthony Pellecchia, and technical support was provided by the department’s students.

“Shine” is the title track to the band‘s fifth album, slated to release on October 4. Ghost Town‘s last album debuted at #4 on the Billboard Blues Charts. 

The band will also show a short film called “Once There Was a Cigar Box,” a short film that won 17 awards at film festivals across the world including the “Short Film Jury Award” at the Indie Memphis Film Festival. The film features Ghost Town Blues Band front-man Matt Isbell and his process of making cigar box guitars and his philosophies of life.

The screening starts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3 at Malco Studio on the Square. Although this event is free and open to the public, seating is first come first serve.
