EMERGE: New Student Dance Works is the annual showcase of exciting new dance works by UofM dance program student choreographers. These new, bold, exciting, thought-provoking, and beautiful dance works are set on dance program student and other U of M students from across campus. This performance is executed in collaboration with Theatre & Dance department student designers from the costume, lighting, sound, and technical areas.
Join us for this highly anticipated once a year dance presentation! Student Choreographers for Emerge include: Lauryn Adair, Connor Chaparro, Melody Green, Lauren Horton, Taylor Jackson, Abbie Martin, Kennedy Reed and Summer Rowe. Designers include Marrissa Cherry, Candace Ferrell, Caelan Ingram, and Newman Jones (Costumes), Natalina DeFusco (Lighting), Anthony Pellecchia (Sound Consultant) and Brian J. Ruggaber (Props Designer/Consultant). The University of Memphis Department of Theatre & Dance seeks to educate the next generation of theatre artists for successful careers in the performing arts, the entertainment industry and arts education and to contribute to the enrichment of the cultural climate of the community, region and beyond as engaged partners. Central to the mission is the belief that theoretical and practical courses combined with production experiences and personalized mentorship are critical to the education and training of our students.
