University of Memphis Department of Theatre & Dance is proud to announce the first show of our 2021-2022 season: Ordinary Days, a musical by Adam Gwon. The show will feature a cast of actor/singers who are vaccinated, safely distanced and wearing masks.
8.3 million individuals live in New York City, and yet they struggle to make meaningful connections with others and with the fast-paced world around them. Ordinary Days looks at four of these city dwellers as they yearn for contentment, romance, and successful careers. We see fragments of true, everyday life through their comic, heartbreaking, and poignant stories. Through a score of fresh, contemporary songs, it gives us a glimpse of what it means to live – and thrive – in the “City that Never Sleeps.”
Ordinary Days is being directed by MFA directing candidate Thomas “TeKay” King and full design collaboration from Scenic Designer Natalie Ervolino, Costume Designer Jennifer Gillette, Lighting Designer Hayes Wolfe and Sound Designer Ian C. Easterwood. Music Director is Tracy Thomas. Like the cast, the design team and all of the students working on the show have been socially distant and wearing masks, keeping everyone safe while creating theatre during the pandemic.
The University of Memphis Department of Theatre & Dance is committed to creating opportunities for our students to learn and grow as artists under any circumstances. Each audience member will be asked to comply with the mask mandate while in the theatre building and will be seated using social distancing.
