University of Memphis Department of Theatre & Dance is proud to announce the final show of its 2021-2022 season: the musical masterpiece Pippin. The show will feature a cast of actors made up of students and a special guest artist.
We’ve got magic to do! Join us for the story of young prince Pippin as he searches for his “Corner of the Sky”. With a memorable score by Grammy and Oscar winning writer and musical theatre icon Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Disney’s Pocahontas), Pippin has become a classic in the modern Broadway genre. A charismatic Leading Player and his band of storytellers bring us the story of young prince Pippin as he searches for an extraordinary life. Through his pursuit of adventure, Pippin experiences life in its triumphs and defeats, but can he truly find happiness?
Pippin is directed by Department of Theatre & Dance Chair and Head of Musical Theatre Jacob Allen. Angelo Rapan is Musical Director and Jill Guyton Nee choreographs with full design collaboration from Scenic Designer Kimberly Powers, Costume Designer Haley Grannon, Lighting Designer Anthony Pellecchia, Projections Designer Natalie Ervolino, and Sound Designers Andrew Boone, Ian Easterwood and Micki McCormick. Joining the cast of students is our special guest, Imagene Azengraber (Miss Tupelo Pride 2019-2020, Miss Dru’s Place’19, Winner of Dru’s The Host Competition ’18, LilMs PuzzlePiece ’17, Queen Pegasus XII, Miss Gay Facebook ’14)
