School of Music to host 5th Annual Memphis International Piano Festival and Competition virtually this fall

The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music will host the 5th Annual Memphis International Piano Festival and Competition in a fully virtual format on October 16-18.
This year’s Annual Memphis International Piano Festival and Competition is comprised of a piano competition for ages 4-19 featuring cash prizes, a virtual collegiate masterclass, awards ceremony and winners’ recital.
Festival directors for this event include Dr. Artina McCain, Coordinator of Piano Studies, and Dr. Jonathan Tsay, Assistant Professor of Piano. Tsay, who has served as visiting assistant professor since fall 2019, was promoted to the position of assistant professor beginning in the fall 2020 semester.
The panel of judges for this year’s competition includes Dr. Minju Choi, Assistant Professor of Music with Missouri State University; Spencer Myer with Longy School of Music of Bard College; and Dr. Jose Antonio Cubela, Professor of Piano with Texas Wesleyan University.
