The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music is proud to congratulate not one, but two alumni, Dr. Jeffrey Murdock and David Parks, on their recent GRAMMY Awards.
At the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony, Dr. Murdock was awarded the 2021 GRAMMY Music Educator Award. This award is given annually to an outstanding music educator, who has been nominated by their peers. Along with the $10,000 personal honorarium, there was also a video piece centered around Dr. Murdock’s teaching at the University of Arkansas- Fayetteville.
David Parks was awarded a GRAMMY for his bass playing on Ledisi’s album, “The Wild Card.” Parks graduated from the U of M with his Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz/ Commercial Performance. Over his career, Parks has worked with many big names in the music industry such as Justin Bieber, Sean Kingston, and Jason Derulo.
