iLrn

iLrn is where you can do homework exercises, access your eBook (including the ability to click and hear most text pronounced), and practice more on your own.

IMPORTANT NOTES AND RULES ABOUT iLrn. You’re expected to have iLrn to do your homework, do assignments on time, and know about what is and isn’t allowed. If you have questions after reading this info, please let me know!

  • Getting onto iLrn
  • Assignments
    • Exercises are due at 11:59 pm on the date listed on iLrn
    • There’s a point deduction of 10% per day if it’s late, up to a week
    • Exercises more than a week late will NOT be graded, but you can do them for practice if you’d like.
  • Doing exercises
    • Some exercises are self-correcting. The system will tell you whether your answers are right or wrong. You’ll have up to tries to get 100%.
    • Other exercises will tell you they need instructor review because there may be two or lots of answers possible (for example, if it’s asking you about what you like to wear, what your room is like, etc.).
    • For any exercise you don’t get 100% on, I’ll look it over and give you feedback. When you check your results, feedback is indicated by this symbol:
  • What NOT to do
    • DO NOT JUST COPY THE SAMPLE/CORRECT ANSWERS on any attempt. Learning a foreign language is like learning how to ride a bike — you have to practice to get better.
    • Unless there’s an exercise your teacher says to do with a partner, you must do your own work (DON’T copy, ask friends for help, etc).
    • DO NOT JUST LEAVE ANSWERS BLANK. If you’re not sure, guess! If you leave an answer blank, it may look like you’re just trying to see the correct answer before trying on your own.
    • Any of these can result in reduced grades for not following instructions, or if you’re suspected of cheating, other sanctions are possible.

The idea behind these exercises is to give you practice in using and understanding the language, instant feedback on most exercises to help you see what you got wrong right away, and individual feedback on other exercises that have multiple answers or personalized responses. If you have questions, please let me know.
