Hello to all of my fellow sophomores! I hope you have had a wonderful start to a new semester! This week the topic is classroom technology. Many of today’s professors have gotten involved in the use of clickers for their classroom. The biggest thing with this form of technology is to follow the guidance of your professor as their usage may differ. If you feel as though you still need help with a clicker outside of the classroom, feel free to give us a call at (901)678-8888. Other forms of technology used for the classroom include lockdown browser and elearn (ecourseware). Lockdown browser is a browser that a lot of professors like for their students to use when it comes to taking test online. This browser has to be downloaded onto your personal computer, but if you have the time you are always welcome to stop by the University Center Technology Hub or Mcwherter Library where the lockdown browser is already installed and ready for use. Elearn, on the other hand, is used by the entire University for you to access all of your classes in a semester. Some professors take full advantage of this site to upload syllabus, PowerPoint slides, and many other useful resources for the class. Also, many professors may have you take quizzes and test through this website as well. Again, if you have experience any issues with these sites we can be contacted at the number previously mentioned. One last thing – we will be offering one on one technology training for any student interested. If you feel any interest in this offer you can send an email to techcoach@memphis.edu.
I hope you all are able to take full advantage of all the wonderful technological resources around campus and continue to have a wonderful semester!
