July 24, 2025 ̶ ̶ ̶ The University of Memphis has broken its all-time record for philanthropic commitments and academic priority fundraising. For the 2025 fiscal year, overall commitments totaled $64.9M, surpassing the previous record of $52.2M in 2022.
With record-breaking support for athletics, the largest investments ever in academic facilities, and an all-time high in new commitments over $50,000, the University of Memphis is poised to provide unprecedented support to the many students, faculty and staff who define the Tiger family.
This support will strengthen a broad range of University priorities — from student scholarships and faculty endowments to expanded research opportunities and state-of-the-art facility improvements — all aimed at delivering a world-class educational experience.
“Every contribution creates a meaningful and lasting impact,” said University President Bill Hardgrave. “As a Carnegie R1 institution, this growing wave of philanthropic support will enhance our national standing and help draw top talent from across the country to teach, learn, work and innovate in Memphis. This support underscores our commitment to a successful outcome for every student.”
UofM’s Senior Vice President for Advancement Tara Jones believes this record-breaking year is just the beginning. As the University expands its reach and impact through new programs, enhanced research and student-centered initiatives, the need for continued philanthropic support grows. Sustaining this momentum will be critical to unlocking even greater opportunities for the next generation of Tigers.
“This level of generosity sets the stage for long-term success for our students,” said Jones. “I’m deeply thankful to every donor who invests in providing our students with the tools they need to thrive, grow and graduate ready to lead in their careers. I’m excited for all we will continue to achieve together in the future.”
