UofM Lambuth M. D. Anderson Planetarium Announces Upgrade; February Schedule

Feb. 10, 2025 — The University of Memphis Lambuth M. D. Anderson Planetarium announces an upgrade with its acquisition of a new Digitarium Theta III projector. The Theta III uses a 4k UHD laser-phosphor projector plus Digitarium’s innovative fisheye lens to project high-contrast imagery over the full 30-foot dome.

The University of Memphis Lambuth M. D. Anderson Planetarium seats 60 and offers public shows twice a week, on Tuesdays (5:30 p.m.) and Fridays (1:30 p.m.), as well as a Kids’ After School Special the second Friday of the month at 3:45 p.m., and a Kids’ Saturday Morning Planetarium Show the fourth Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m. Doors open 15 minutes before showtime. For safety reasons, there is no seating once the IN USE lights are on. No food or drink is allowed in the auditorium.

  • Friday, Feb. 7, 1:30 p.m. – “Two Small Pieces of Glass: the amazing telescope”
  • Tuesday, Feb. 11, 5:30 p.m. – “Cosmic Origins Spectrograph”
  • Friday, Feb. 14, 1:30 p.m. – “Cosmic Origins Spectrograph”
  • Friday, Feb. 14, 3:45 p.m. – Kids’ After School Special Planetarium Show – “Max Goes to the Moon”
  • Tuesday, Feb. 18, 5:30 p.m. – “Forward! To the Moon”
  • Friday, Feb. 21, 1:30 p.m. – “Forward! To the Moon”
  • Saturday, Feb. 22, 9:30 a.m. – Kids’ Saturday Morning Planetarium Show – “TimeSpace”
  • Tuesday, Feb. 25, 5:30 AND 6:30 p.m. – “Sunstruck”
  • Friday, Feb. 28, 1:30 p.m. – “Sunstruck
