UofM’s Joshi Joins Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The dean of the University of Memphis School of Public Health was recently elected to the board of directors at a national organization that serves as the top voice of academic public health in the nation.
Ashish Joshi, who has been at the UofM since 2022 and is a distinguished university professor, has been elected to the board of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health along with:
- Edith Parker, DrPH, MPH, dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa (chair-elect)
- Marsha Davis, PhD, dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia
- Daniele Fallin, PhD, dean of the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University
- Cynthia Harris, PhD, MA, associate dean for Public Health and director and professor, Institute of Public Health at Florida A&M University (re-elected)
- Melinda Pettigrew, PhD, dean of the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota
Their positions begin in March 2025. The board is responsible for setting association policy and strategy as well as providing fiduciary oversight.

“I am honored to be elected to this role and look forward to working alongside my peers across various schools and programs of public health and help advance ASPPH mission and vision to prepare the next generation of public health workforce, and grow research-based solutions using data driven, evidence informed innovative and entrepreneurial approaches to address public health challenges of the 21st century,” Joshi said.
Earlier this year, the UofM School of Public Health was recognized as a co-recipient of the 2024 Harrison C. Spencer Award for its outstanding community service. Joshi ‘s research focuses on population health interventions using digital interventions and innovations to advance health equity through the lens of human centered design, social cognitive models, public health workforce, global health, public health innovation and entrepreneurship and impact of social determinants of health toward improving good health and well-being.
