Avron Fogelman Family’s Historic $10M Commitment Fuels Growth

Avron B. Fogelman

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024 — Longtime University of Memphis supporter Avron B. Fogelman is committing $10 million toward the future modernization of the Fogelman College of Business & Economics (FCBE). This marks the single largest commitment FCBE has ever received and one of the largest commitments in the history of the University of Memphis.

Fogelman’s generosity helps elevate FCBE to national prominence and serves as a catalyst for others to join in shaping the college’s future.

Avron B. Fogelman, Founder and Chairman of Fogelman Properties, has a long legacy of impact at the University of Memphis. Starting in 1973, Avron and his brother, Bobby, first supported the UofM by endowing the Morris S. Fogelman Chair in Real Estate. In 1980, in honor of their continued commitment, the College of Business Administration was officially renamed the Fogelman College of Business & Economics.

Avron has also supported the UofM through the Avron B. Fogelman Center for Professional Career Development, the Avron B. Fogelman Scholarship Program, the Fogelman Executive Center, which now houses the University Middle and High Schools and the FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field.

“Thanks to Avron’s enduring generosity, countless business students will have access to a world-class education and will go on to enter the workforce as shining examples of the UofM’s legacy as a top-tier national university,” UofM President Dr. Bill Hardgrave said.

The Fogelman College of Business & Economics was originally established in 1957 as the College of Business Administration. Over the years, countless leaders of industry walked its halls and have gone on to create and work at some of the top businesses in the country.

For FCBE to accommodate the rising number of incoming students, it is critical that the business and administration buildings be expanded and fitted with state-of-the-art facilities to keep up with the modern needs of students, faculty members and community partners.

“This investment is the first step for future growth and innovation at FCBE,” said Dr. Robert Garrett, FCBE dean. “We are profoundly grateful for Avron’s continued support. His monumental commitment ensures that the future renovation of the FCBE will see a modern, updated space where our students, faculty and staff can thrive. We hope it motivates others in the professional community to follow suit in supporting our vision for the future.”

Through this transformative pledge, Fogelman is directly impacting the lives of future business leaders and driving long-term growth for FCBE, the community and the national reputation of the UofM.
