From print to pixels: The evolution of Room 210

As journalism alumni, it’s likely that you have a lot of memories coming out of Room 210 – pitching stories and excitedly taking breaking news assignments, receiving edit after edit, hanging out with friends between classes and working right up until the deadline before submitting your piece.

Room 210 has been home to the beginning of many stories. We want to continue the legacy of truthtelling and student empowerment that has taken place within those walls. It is also our mission to make sure students are ready to hit the ground running with their first job or internship.

To fulfill these goals, our students need access to the latest tools in the field. We’ve been working on exciting plans that will turn Room 210 into a multimedia lab that could serve all of our students’ needs, as well as offer resources that will help faculty, athletes and professionals throughout the wider Memphis community.

As you can see, the space will serve a variety of purposes and solve current challenges for our student media, professional student organizations and courses. Not only will the space become a training ground for today’s tools, but also help students build the confidence and talent that will carry them through their careers.

Together, we can build a multimedia space that inspires excellence. Join us in helping provide students the tools they need to fulfill their potential.
