U of M students and faculty participated in International Literacy Day with Jumpstart’s program at www.readfortherecord.com.  Each year a book is chosen by a famous author to read.  This year the book chosen to get kids reading was Bunny cakes by Rosemary Wells. On October 21, 2014, people across the country united in big cities, small towns, and Porter Leath Head Start facilities around Memphis.  Bonnie Cummings volunteered at Hanley Porter Leath where her students in ELED 3242 are teaching.  The event was organized by Dr. Helen Perkins for the U of M.  Hanley’s event was organized by Kinyada Sears.
