Teaching Experience and Accomplishments

Several accomplishments related to coordination and instruction include developing all four U of M Global French courses at the University of Memphis (Fall 2018-Spring 2020), developing FREN 4310 and 7503 (Advanced Pedagogy, and French Translation, respectively), two new additions to the Department of World Languages and Literatures curriculum (2019), and being nominated for the Thomas W. Briggs Excellence in Teaching Award in 2018.

In addition to the basic language courses listed below and more advanced topics (translation, pedagogy, technology, etc.) I have overseen our French section’s transition from a traditional program for our basic language sequence to a more communicative teaching approach, based on Comprehensible Input (VanPatten and others) and a customized version of ACTFL’s “Can-Do” statements.

I’ve also served on the doctoral committee of two Ed.D. candidates (Instructional Design and Technology) and the master’s committee for 11 M.A. candidates (World Languages and Literatures).
