The University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music proudly announces the expansion of the trumpet studio with the addition of Scott Moore. Partnering with Dr. David Spencer, professor of trumpet, Moore will serve as instructor of trumpet to enhance the school’s growing studio.
“Scott Moore will be an incredible addition to our strong trumpet program led by Dr. Spencer,” said Kevin Sanders, director of the School of Music. “Scott’s impeccable pedigree, deep roots in the Memphis community, and dedication to teaching the next generation of musicians make him a natural choice to join our faculty. We are excited to see the impact he makes with our students.”
Moore is the principal trumpet in the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and the leader of the MSO Big Band.
“I love Memphis and am proud of its rich musical heritage. I am excited to help further this legacy by working with the trumpet students at the University of Memphis and collaborating with its world-class music faculty,” said Moore.
Moore has performed with the Chicago Symphony, the St. Louis Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, and the National Symphony, and as guest principal with the symphony orchestras of Atlanta, Toronto, and Jacksonville. He has recorded and performed with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra and with
I Fiamminghi, the Orchestra of Flanders. Moore is also the Assistant Principal Trumpet in the Arizona MusicFest Orchestra.
As a soloist, Moore has appeared with the San Antonio Symphony, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, the Tennessee Summer Symphony, the Chattanooga Symphony, and on numerous occasions with the Memphis Symphony. He has also been a featured Guest Artist at the International Trumpet Guild Conference.
Moore has a Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Arts degree from McNeese State University. His teachers have included Charles Schlueter, Robert Nagel, Arnold Jacobs and Michael Ewald.
