Hooks Research Fellow Edits New Book Series

University of Virginia Press recently announced “The Black Soldier in War and Society: New Narratives and Critical Perspectives,” a new book series edited by Hooks Academic Research fellow, Dr. Le’Trice Donaldson. According to the press release from UVP, the series highlights “innovative scholarship on the Black military experience to highlight the diverse and complex experiences of African-descended people and to explore the implications of their participation in war.”

Dr. Donaldson, along with her two co-editors, Drs. george white and Holly Pinheiro Jr. aim to bring “scholarly audiences as well as a wide reading public a robust slate of high-quality books written by junior and veteran scholars who share their passion for exploring the intersectionality of the Black military experience.”

Along with Dr. Donaldson’s participation, Hooks Scholar in Residence, Andre E. Johnson serves on the advisory board of the series.
